Since 2008 the candidate has been working on ways to integrate his great passion for scuba-diving into his life. For this he started travelling around the world and has now found a base in Bali, Indonesia.

With “Projects” he works as a free-lance consultant on a part-time (interval) basis, leaving sufficient space and time for a different life (family) and business (PT Kodok Travel) abroad in Bali, Indonesia. Projects in focus are typical 2 - 6 months.

Demand Manager

Candidate worked as an IT Demand Manager for the Vodafone Consumer Business Unit (internal customer model). In this role he helps the business to define scope and requirements for new initiatives and helps to plan for the future by defining and maintaining roadmaps (ao for retail and marketing capabilities programs).

Examples of initiatives include holistic definition and execution of Marketing Capabilities such as Business Analytics, Campaign Management, Next Best Activity, Data Warehouse ETL processes, LDM release planning etc. Retail projects such as POS improvements and generic strategically important enabling infrastructure transformation such as SOA (EAI, BPM).

Program Manager & Presales Manager.

Candidate was appointed program manager for a number of interrelated projects in a Vodafone operating company, involving up to 68 people in and outside the Vodafone operator. Hans was involved in pre-sales activities concerning this program and has paved the long way to signing the commercial contract by removing the service-design related obstacles, dealing with political sensitive situations in the operator. A key element in this was enabling the respecification of the mobile email wap-flow design and getting the internal and external commitments for the software development. This major and last technical obstacle was succesfully managed.
On regional presales activities, the main focus has been on Unified Messaging, realtime- and converged billing (MDG and RTDB). On realtime VAS, derived benefits such as corporate identity and service differentiators (both in content and pricing structure) are selling points of interest to telco operators.

Marketing Manager for Vodafone Global Account

Candidate joined the Comverse Vodafone Global Account group in 2002. After a period of pre-sales work to Vodafone Companies, he was appointed Comverse Marketing Manager for Vodafone Global Product Management (GPM) in Dusseldorf. He was responsible for the day-to-day contacts with the UM product management in Vodafone and for guarding compliancy of customer requests on Unified Messaging to the functional specs as described in the Global Contract. Candidate negotiated priorities and the exact nature and intention of the contract with respect to functional requirements. UM Phase 2 has been implemented at Vodafone Global premises by the project team and has been implemented in the field at Vodafone Group Operating Companies.

Other tasks: Building and enhancing the relationship with Vodafone Global Product Marketing, Capturing new requirements, recognizing Vodafone strategy, trends and tactics concerning messaging solutions; translating customer interests to the Comverse internal product marketing, specifying Marketing Requirements, assisting in and setting up informative and pre-sales activities with Vodafone GPM and ITTM etc. etc.

Pre-Sales and Market Development Manager

Candidate started february 2001 in the role of Pre-Sales Manager for the Benelux countries, managing presales and market development activities for all Comverse Network Systems products.

Numerous new prospects were recognized, visited and added to the network of our sales organization.

As bidmanager for a large project in the Netherlands he coordinated the work of a team of 9 people, which resulted Comverse to gain the “preferred supplier” status for a services platform in this tier1 operator.

Technical Business Consultant

For the full year 2000 candidate managed technical feasibility studies for new prepaid services. As a specialist in Aethos real-time prepaid GSM services Hans worked as a technical and business consultant from a telecoms network- and services architecture perspective. Contributions were made to ‘Rabofoon’ prepay recharging, prepay international calls, prepay SMS, wap calls etc.

Functional control and supplier-management were part of the tasks. Hans developed and implemented improved processes to request, order and monitor progress in development of enhanced functionality for the prepaid platform and subsystems. A tool was developed based on his requirements specification to monitor progress in enhancement requests and development of new releases. This facilitated the simplicity of administrative tasks for the operator and benefits release management and supplier management activities.

Driven by the technical focus of the work and the required knowledge of GSM candidate received training on gsm, SS7, GPRS, Intelligent Networks and the architecture of the GSM network of the operator. For the projects candidate coordinated (partly confidential) projects for the Telecoms department with teams of 2-6 people.

Project Manager / Organisation Consultant

Candidate performed many interviews with staff of the operator to analyse the organisation.

Based on the results of these interviews a set of internal and external procedures was defined in close collaboration with key staff of the operator and members of the management team of the supplier.

The internal procedures were delivered to the operator for implementation. The external procedures were delivered to both the operator and the supplier. The requests for product-enhancements and the milestones in the development lifecycle in the supplier organisation were made visable with these procedures.

As a logical consequence of the previous, Hans defined and implemented a Service Level Agreement (SLA) for requirements and enhancement requests processing. The SLA was agreed and mutually signed by the management of the operator and the supplier.

Older jobs/assignments were in the electronics development industry CN Controllers for machines, keyboard and graphics development for industrial machines, and digital voice recording product marketing and project management.
