· Project manage, design and implement a \"Quality of Service\" (Q.o.S.) measurement system to guard the WAN network as part of the ITIL Capacity Management function of the IT department.
· The system catered for the availability and response time monitoring of the Front and Back Office applications as an instrument for adjusting capacity of the links and reporting to the internal customers and management.
· Integration of the application within the Managed Server requirements for the Win NT4 operating system.
· Designed and executed a Y2K test for the system.
· Tested and migrated the application to the Win NT4 SP6a service pack in order to make use of the higher encryption algorithms for security purposes.
· Ensured successful hand-over to the standing operation and application managers including full design and management documentation. Hands-on training was also supplied.

Activities:
· Gathered corporate and business requirements and translated these into a functional and technical design.
· Investigated, negotiated, selected and promoted suitable COTS (Commercial Off The Shelf) products as elements of the total solution.
· Delivered a prototype and proof of concept.
· Introduced and escorted the introduction of Windows NT within this part of the organization that was previously predominantly focussed on Unix.
· Designed and co-managed the development project to integrate the new Windows NT based COTS with the existing Unix solutions. The solution was prepared for roll-out to 700 locations world-wide with remote management and configuration.
· Initiated and managed the development of an SQL database for the Managed Network MIS. This MIS provided the reporting for the validation of the Network SLA values on global and national levels.
· The solution was part of a three pronged WAN network renewal project with a total value of Euro 200 million - Euro 300 million.
