2002-now Free-lance marketing advisor
Situation: mentor, coach for (marketing) management and marketing support staff seeking improvement. Pragmatic troubleshooter and problem solver. But also hands on every day work aimed at getting the job done.
Task: go in companies of whom the (marketing) management and marketing support staff needs support or coaching, work with and for them towards solutions and approaches.
Action: workshops, personal sessions and presence at the client’s company to assist and support in meetings and other activities.
Results: finished projects on time and delivering required results.
A multi facetted approach in which the role of all round marketer is provided. Responsible for product developing and product management. Product development is seen as a multi disciplinary activity. After identification of the market potential of a product, a business case and development plan is made. After approval the product is realized in cooperation with the technical development department and then launched onto the market place in cooperation with the marketing department. Several marketing tools are utilized to meet the turn over and margin targets.
The approach is that of a bridge maker. Jobs and responsibilities typically are:
• Technical (IT, telecom) products and services to be delivered to the corporate and SME market. Examples are:
- New product development
- Customer development and customer life cycle
- Company, department, product re alignments
• Identifying market developments (demand, competition and their offerings and possibilities for market development) for technical products and services for the corporate and SME market in Europe.
• Defining the marketing strategy and commercial planning for technical products and services.
• Defining and adjusting the product port folio necessary per market segment needed to reach the business goals.
• As part of a bid team delivering adequate pricing and commercial terms to service prospects in a successful manner. This in close contact with account managers working on the basis of specific customer cases, desired product functionality and competition. Delivering made to fit solutions based on a business case per customer case.
• Managing product development and innovation. This as an internal customer and as an initiator.
• Product life management based upon quality and margin.
• Reporting of the product results. This in close cooperation with technical, sales and marketing departments.

2001-2002 Senior Business Consultant, Strigidae
Situation: creative thinker, quality enhancer, product developer.
Task: creative and strategic input in implementation driven organization, support colleagues in creative processes, develop business development strategy.
Action: Workshops with colleagues to build new products, develop strategic plans to lay out ideas and road maps. Work with customers to deliver hands on support.
Result: business plans for 2 spin off companies, investors for one of them. New business plan that made consultancy survive decline in consultancy and telecom branch. Several internal and external projects.

Situation: reporting to MMM and Strategy Director
Task: develop and support strategy for MMM project in a local and European context
Action: involved in all activities (portal development and enabler rollout) as internal counselor linking strategy and marketing, GPRS and UMTS strategy, coaching young marketeers, ASP counseling
Result: GPRS and UMTS strategy, business and residential portal roadmap and development path

Strategic Marketing Manager
Situation: reporting to Strategy & Marketing Intelligence Director, working for CEO and Supervisory Board
Task: develop and support strategy for all parts and group as a whole
Action: Strategic Planning, input in marketing planning, support of product development (GPRS, UMTS), ad hoc questions and problems
Result: Strategic Plan 2000-2008, several new product developments, decision-making presentations on a wide range of subjects

Project Manager
Situation: Project Manager, reporting to Director Fixed Mobile Convergence, directing project team and managing team of consultants
Task: develop fixed mobile product
Action: forming of task group to development and prepare for implementation and commercial launch of CallTogether (first true fixed mobile converged telecom product on Dutch market)
Result: Process followed (market research, business planning, marketing development, marketing mix development and execution) and product handed over for implementation on time

Action: scouting of possible dealers, first contacts, contract negotiations and planning of introduction activities.
Result: 8 foreign dealers, which accounts for 60% of turnover.

1989-1992 Account Director, Contact!
Situation: reporting to general director, directing account group
Task: to improve the working relation between (French) agency and (American) client, to steer creative teams, product market and competitor analyses and to plan communication activities.
Action: constant and in depth contact with both parties to build a bridge. Also constant attention to maintaining the quality of the work (pan European DM activities).
Result: much improved working relationship and a higher quality of output.

Task: implement marketing oriented method of operating, product market and competitor analyses, plan communication activities, steer creative teams
Action: devising and implementation of systematical method of working by using layered briefings and integration of marketing communication targets and means.
Result: improved acquisition and servicing of marketing minded customers, better market position.
