Fortinet is a leading Unified Threat Management Vendor and largest privately owned Network Security Company (IDC 2005).

Marketing Director EMEA
Managing 3 FTE.

Key task in this role was to bring strategy, structure and continuity into the EMEA Marketing support structure as well as in all marketing activities; online as well as offline. My team supported our direct sales and distribution partners in 23 countries. I reported to the VP EMEA (France) with a dotted line to the VP Global Marketing (USA). My main duties included:

• Participated in Global Marketing Team.
• Directed and managed development of localized EMEA web content for fortinet
• Developed and implemented online and offline channel marketing & partner programs.
• Managed EMEA Marketing team, 3 FTE based in France and UK.
• Initiated and managed regional marketing projects (budget upwards of US$ 500k p.a.).
• Managed co-op funded marketing projects (budget upwards of US$ 3 million p.a.).
• Introduced the FORTINET. FIRST FOR campaign, branding Fortinet as leader in the Unified Security space.
• Developed and directed EMEA PR strategy and acted as EMEA spokesperson.
• Managed 6 PR agencies, 4 advertising agencies and one event builder across EMEA.
• Assisted Regional Sales Directors with sales towards high end Service Providers and strategic resellers.





KAHUNA GROUP BV Amersfoort, Netherlands 2001 - 2005
Kahuna Group consists of two Internet Solutions related business Units:

• Kahuna Business Solutions delivers high end Email management, Webselfservice and Callcenter Automation tools to enterprise customers.
• Kahuna Network Solutions holds a strong position in the Dutch Managed. The company has pioneered the security outtasking/outsourcing marketplace.

Awarded numerous times for its achievements, Kahuna maintains a top 10 position in brand recognition within the Dutch IT market (Computable 2005), competing with multinational brands such as McAfee and Symantec. Deloitte has put the company in the top 15 of their Technology FastFifty for the fifth consecutive year and awarded the company with the Consistency Award.

Throughout my time with Kahuna I held various roles and responsibilities, always geared towards building the company.

• Driving the growth of Kahuna Group from 10 to 75 FTE, in close partnership with the company’s CEO and founder.
• Managing Director for Kahuna Network Solutions, including execution of all projects, managed services, HR and back office activities.
• Key Account Management, consistently exceeding annual targets, managing 30%+ of Kahuna Group turnover.
• Project Management for large CRM and Security projects.
• Driving and directing all aspects of online and offline Marketing
• Driving and directing PR strategy including acting as spokesperson.
• Driving and directing all aspects of product management, including supplier selection, strategic partnerships and service design.
• Chief editor of “Kahuna Magazine” (45,000 printed copies per issue).



TECHKNOWLEDGE BV Amsterdam, Netherlands 1998 – 2001
Techknowledge was an independent agency representing up to 20 senior freelance IT and Web consultants in the Dutch contracting market. Techknowledge activities were sold to Octagon ICT (The Hague) in 2001.

• Personal Interim assignments included:

o New Media Merger & Acquisition teammember for Finish New Media company Satama Interactive to acquire a Dutch New Media firm (General Design).

o New Media Interim HR manager with Satama Interactive Netherlands growing this branch office from 27 to 65 FTE.

o ICT Strategy Consultant, re-designing and re-positioning the ICT Security activities of KPN Telecom, as part of merging three business units. Restructuring the organizational setup and go-to-market strategy.

o ICT Sales Consultant. Various EMEA wide free lance sales projects targeting Multinational customers with IT Security vendor McAffee.



RIJNHAAVE (SYNTEGRA, British Telecom). Zoetermeer, Netherlands 1995 – 1998
Founder Departmental Internet Start up
Developed the “Internet Services” business unit of a large ICT firm (1200 FTE employed). Pioneering the market for Internet solutions. Working with key customers such as Heineken, Unisource/KPN, Epson Europe, Ministry of ‘VROM’, House of parliament. This unit had grown to 38 FTE in 1998. Services included: Web development & E-commerce, Internet connectivity & Security, Email & Messaging. Main duties:

• Start-up strategy and services design
• Sales of all propositions to enterprise customers
• Project Management for projects sold
• Building alliances with technology vendors such as Digital, Sun, Compaq, KPN, Silicon Graphics.
• Building alliances with New Media companies and services vendors
• And anything it took to get this start up to success…
