Work Experience

During the last 6 years I’ve worked as an interim financial manager for a number of small and medium sized companies mostly being part of an international group. The assignments ranged from the title of Finance Manager to Credit Collection and (Business) Controller over Chief Accountant. Some of my assignments are :

Deceuninck is the number one manufacturer of polymer profiles for fenestration and building purposes. For this assignment as Plant Controller I was responsible as controller for the sites for compounding, extrusion and recycling in Belgium. I managed to get a grip on the material balance by talking and discussing with the compound manager and finetuning the registration process. For standard costing I uploaded and checked bi-weekly the prices in SAP and assessed the proposed depreciation of the stocks. Monthly forecast, monthly closing and the first version of the budget were also my concerns. Alongside I made some reports easier to prepare and better to understand.

Volvo Construction Equipment, with global headquarters in Brussels, is one the biggest worldwide player in the production of heavily construction machines. During this assignment as Finance Controller I was in charge of the monthly consolidation postings in SAP and reconciliation reports in BW BEX. I calculated the margin of the different machine lines at standard cost price, eliminated the intercompany profit on inventory and made analysis during closing on demand of the business. I also prepared the management reports and provided them with the necessary comments. As key user of the consolidation monitor in SAP I was providing wordwide assistance when companies had questions during closing. Finally I actively participated in changing the process of the internal profit elimination.

Olympus Belgium is part of the bigger Olympus Group with headquarters in Tokyo and worldwide known for imaging. As Finance and Accounting Manager I was responsible for AP, AR and GL. Together with my team I took care of the monthly fast close and prepare the monthly, quarterly and yearly reporting under IFRS. I prepared the annual accounts and all fiscal declarations (direct and indirect taxes, VAT). Finally I was preparing the transition of the accounting team from Belgium to France.

Matexi Group is one of the biggest real estate development companies in Belgium and is privatelly held. I was responsible for the quarterly and yearly closing and reporting for about 10 companies, of which 2 key companies of the group. As the group reorganised the accounting department I also had a look at the closing and reporting process.

CL-group is a Belgian family owned company active in the distribution of electrical component. The structure of the group is 11 companies. The group implemented a new tailor made ERP system and changed their accounting system. As Finance and administration Director I analysed and reformulated the structure of the finance and administration department, made improvements in the reporting and controlling reports and eliminated redundant reports.

At Galapagos, a Belgian stock quoted company, I was a Finance Controller working on the R&D budget and reporting with a view from 3 different approaches: traditional costs, project accounting and by cost category. In the same way these results were monthly reported. Galapagos was also implementing a new ERP system (Agresso) and I participated in the setup and testing of the budgeting, reporting and project module.
The R&D department consists of 3 legal entities in 3 countries in Europe.

When I did my 2 assignments as Finance Director for Gunnebo Belgium I was responsible for a number of departments: accounting, controlling and reporting, quality (ISO), warehouse, facility and IT. As this company is very project and service driven, a lot of controlling was done on each project by managing and controlling the standard cost of goods sold and all stocks were held under control. Thanks to the efforts in credit collection I managed to reduce the working capital significantly. A year later I was asked again for another interim management assignment. I was very pleased to see that they were still working with the reports and analysis tools I installed during my first assignment.

There was a good collaboration between myself as Finance Manager and the sales department in Toshiba Medical Systems. As this is a very competitive market I worked closely with the sales director to prepare the quotes and tried to tackle the objective from the customer. Although this was a rather short assignment I managed to detect a number of improvements in the accounting department.


Nexans, division Euromold is the manufacturer of high voltage insulation tubes. I found it very satisfying to clean up the old stuff and get some new ways of more efficient and reliable working on board.

In Colruyt I worked as Accounting Manager and was responsible for 3 departments (fixed assets, accounting of wages and post-acquisition) and helped with the implementation of a new ERP. I made the accounting manual for the fixed asset department, which is the base for the accounting principles of that department.

As an interim Finance Manager for Northgate Arinso I took care of the year-end audit, final budget round and the normal monthly reporting.
