Managed multiple projects to implement Microsoft SharePoint Portal at Power Stations and corporate units. Included migration of ½ million documents from non-Y2k compliant document management system to SharePoint. Projects were run to Prince II standards and were used as a model for introduction of Prince II working into the organisation. Also managed project to re-engineer Power Station logs and migrate to web-based working.

Local Inner-City School
Worked on a voluntary basis in a local inner-city school/college to provide assistance on IT matters. Produced audit report to identify current use and configuration of IT facilities. Developed, with ICT teachers and Head of Curriculum, a strategy to enable more effective use of IT resources in the school for pupils and staff, advised on staffing and training requirements.

Powergen
Advisory role to management on corporate Intranet portal direction and strategy including investigation of next generation portal options. Produced business case for implementation of Plumtree and Sharepoint portal implementations. Prepared Powergen’s entry for the .tif award for business innovation.

Established, hired and managed teams to specify, design, develop, deliver and support Powergen’s Intranet portal. Programme. Managed many simultaneous projects to implement applications of varying sizes (several mandays to 3 man-years). This included business analysis, maintaining project plans and controls, selecting and controlling contract staff and third party developers, implementing quality management and configuration management controls and standards. Managed migration of data from several existing Intranets to the new portal.

Business Re-engineering Projects developed for Business Transformation Director included ‘origen’ Intranet Portal, Intranet-based document publishing system, ‘People @ Powergen’ Knowledge Management System, ‘Spark’ New Business Venture workflow, E-learning @ work, E-learning @ home, ISO9000 Databases, Investors In People Database. Wide range of technologies based on ‘n’ tier platform.

Transco
Led team of Intranet publishers to develop Transco’s online Quality Management System using mixture of ASP, PHP, Cold Fusion, Flash and Acrobat.

Advised and participated in EFQM business transformation programme and contributed to Transco entry for Midlands Quality Award.

Established processes to streamline finance, shipper services and document development activities. Managed development of many web applications.

Developed business processes and SLA for, and successfully transferred all development activities to, offshore working.

Variety of roles includes support to management on issues involving TickIT, ISO Standards, CMM, Investors In People (IIP) and process management.

Developed and implemented a Quality Management System (QMS) using an Intranet. Managed the quality team covering day-to-day project quality assurance, QMS/document control, auditing and configuration management planning

Quality Manager for many customer projects including development and support of £300m British Gas Billing System, Year 2000 compliance activities and internal projects including selection and set up of offshore development centres.

Data Migration support for British Gas’ Billing System, converting twelve disparate systems into a unified data set for millions of customers. Defined Data Quality Rules for a staggered data load.

Developed and implemented quality system controls including a process model for software development lifecycle and supporting processes such as test strategies, document control systems, project certification process, quality improvement teams and ongoing quality circles.

Trained administration staff and quality circle leaders. Audited and monitored many projects and reported on project securities and controls.

Provided a consultancy service to small company on ISO9002 and Investors In People as part of Management Expertise Provision programme.

Provided advice and guidance on the application of the department\'s Total Quality Management initiative.

Consultant to project team to implement department-wide QMS and advised IT Director on operation of quality system and enhancements required to obtain TickIT registration

Initiated and facilitated quality circles, set up quality council/steering committee and developed a \'Quality Academy\' - training for staff on process improvement tools and techniques.
