Diamond designs and manufactures components for electrical signal transfer from stationary to rotating environments. RF and microwave rotary joints, which are used in radar installations, form the majority of Diamond’s business.

It is my role to establish a European network of representatives who will sell Diamond’s products to the local organizations, dealing with design, manufacturing, installation or maintenance of radar systems. Additionally I support these representatives in their business by joint customer visits and project negotiations with customers. Frequent traveling to the various European countries as well as to Diamond in the USA is an important aspect of these co-ordination efforts.



Octagon Support

I was the General Manager for Octagon until December 2002 (See below for more details). After my departure many changes took place, which had put the company in a difficult position. The Octagon shareholder therefore asked me to take charge again and stabilize the company.

Achievements: Stabilization of the company. Regained customer’s trust. Renewal of all contracts into 2004. Definition of the strategy for 2004 and beyond. Implementation of the new team.



Quintet

Quintet was founded in January 2003 as the Belgian branch of the Dutch Green Meadows Group. Quintet offered services aimed at lowering system- and software maintenance costs for companies with large IT infrastructures. Customers, partners and prospects include AXA, IBM, Eurocontrol, Volvo Cars.

Activities: Marketing and Sales, Business development, Sales team setup and management for the Green Meadows Group organization.

Achievements: Across Quintet and the Green Meadows Group a Benelux organization was set up for offering and executing these services. The financial situation of the Green Meadows Group however did not allow a further expansion into the Belgian market. The activities in Quintet were terminated in July 2003.

Octagon provides services of IT- and administrative staff (>40 people). Octagon’s customer base consists of large, international organizations like Shell, Compaq, NATO, Europol, Carl Zeiss and Eurocontrol.

Activities: Definition of objectives. Structuring and managing the day to day operations. Reporting to the shareholder on a monthly basis. Monitoring of business and financial matters. Negotiating framework agreements with customers and partners, etc.

Achievements: Through increased efficiency by reorganizing the company’s structure a revenue growth of 20% was achieved in 2001. Although the crisis in the IT industry has caused serious problems to many companies, Octagon has managed to cope with the crisis and has remained stable throughout 2002.

Thales Information Systems is an IT Services company which services range from fixed price IT projects to providing on-site technical assistance to customers. Key areas are Air Traffic Management and E-services. The Brussels based subsidiary is in charge of the Benelux activities.

Activities: Definition and implementation of sales & marketing budgets and strategies. Recruitment, coaching and development of account managers. Contract negotiations. Development of new accounts in Belgium and the Netherlands. Development of business alliances and partnerships. Account management of Belgocontrol and Eurocontrol.

Achievements: Reorganization of the sales department, Growth of revenue from 130 MBEF (1999) to 185 MBEF (2000), Development of (international) partnerships. Successful negotiations of multi-million Euro contracts.

Equipment Manager Europe

Telogy rents, leases and sells electronic test and measurement equipment. Telogy also runs a service and calibration lab. Major customers are the large European electronics companies (Philips, Motorola, Thomson-CSF etc.) The Belgian branch is in charge of Telogy’s European operations.

Activities: Sales of equipment management services to customer base, Setting up and management of a purchasing and support team. Development of partnerships and contract negotiations with major T&M suppliers. Contract negotiations with major customers from all over Europe concerning surplus take over.

Semiconductor Test Sales

Hewlett-Packard Test & Measurement (Now Agilent Technologies) is one of the leading suppliers of R&D as well as in-production semiconductor test equipment to the electronics industry.

Activities: Sales of semiconductor test systems and services to the large electronics firms in Benelux and Scandinavia. (Philips, Ericsson, Alcatel, Imec). Coordination of HP’s project teams working at the customers’ sites.


Test & Measurement Sales
Hewlett-Packard Test & Measurement (Now Agilent Technologies) is the world’s largest electronics test and measurement supplier. The customer base for this equipment varies from small service companies to the world’s largest electronics companies.

Activities: Sales of test and measurement instruments and systems to the Belgian market. Major customers were the Universities and Barco. Sales of noise and vibration test systems and instruments to the Benelux market. Development of partnerships with service companies in NVH, EMC and CATV domains.

LMS International develops and sells systems for noise and vibration measurement and analysis, mainly to the automotive and aerospace market world wide.

Activities: Sales and coordination of support for the Spanish and Scandinavian market. Management of the distributor relationships in these areas. Direct and indirect contract negotiations. Major customers were Renault, CASA and Nissan in Spain and Scania, Saab Flygmotor in Sweden.
