Work Experience

During the past 4 years I was working as an interim manager within companies facing profitability issues (operating at a loss for certain parts of the business). I was not working as an consultant but as an in-terim/ line manager taking responsibility for the result. I am a holistic thinker, understanding markets, market structures, market forces, trends etc relatively fast. In a relatively short period I typically will de-velop a strategic plan including a clear vision on strategy, organisation structure, processes. Nevertheless the most important issues commonly are: culture, style, management methods etc tearing of walls and building bridges between people, solving goal and priority conflicts, taking cultural differences into ac-count etc.
I always have a strong focus on people, processes and the bottom line (the bottom line never lies). My specialty is to make change happen!

For a globally operating Germany based privately owned company I did the following (during 6 years):
•Redefining and implementing an appropriate corporate strategy (from “stuck in the middle” towards a differentiated approach for selling components and systems);
•Defining and implementing an appropriate strategic answer on the changing market structure and forces due to the emerging Euromarket and globalisation. (Strategy re-definition; strategic alignment and integration of the organisations and processes of 17 European daughter companies (total turnover some 620 Million Euro employing over 4400 people);
•Establishment of an European sales network; an European assembly and logistics network; an European after sales network and a knowledge network. This includes reconsideration and redefinition of the roles of the different daughter companies;
•Replacement of SAP R2 by SAP R3 in Germany and France; Implementation of CRM within Europe (450 workplaces); Implementation of a data-warehouse (SAP BW) strong focus upon planning and statistics;
•Leading the necessary European transformation change process including implementation of the Balanced Scorecard in several countries and the implementation of performance measurement and management practises;
•Bonus based upon realisation of: budgets; planning (progress towards the goals); the deliverables.

From 2006 I am both responsible for group-wide strategic planning and statutory director of the Dutch subsidiary. My responsibilities were:
•Operational and P&L responsibility: from 2006 till 2009 I made a complete turnaround. In 2006 the company was only marginally profitable, the turnover increased significantly, cost structurally reduced with some 14%, the EBIT in 2008 was 12%. Staff reduced with 33%;
•Business development and organisational development turning the Dutch subsidiary into a Model subsidiary (for the group) including full supply chain integration (integration of all inter-company processes) as a basis for a further European Roll-out.

Other responsibilities:
•Management team/subordinate board team member within several companies;
•Projects in different areas of the organisation (product development/ innovation; service; subsidiaries) with the main focus the fit between Strategy – Structure – processes – IT architecture.
•I was involved in the process of several take-overs including due-diligence (also private);
•Interim tasks within different companies (i.e. CEO of different companies);
•Project responsibility in the area of supply chain management developing an international logistics and assembly network (Vision, strategy and processes, including IT systems) including definition/ implementation of: new work-places, supermarket concepts, Kan-Ban practises, MRP/ Multi-level supply control processes, ATP processes and triangle deals;
•Leading the international integration and standardisation process;
•Interim management (including P&L responsibility): strategic change of the sales organisation in NL, Finland and Italy;
•Definition and implementation of: an international pricing strategy (including transfer pricing); an e-business strategy and International key account Management;
•Developing the principle of customer marketing (one-to-one marketing), goal oriented market penetration strategies including the implementation of a sales planning cycle based upon the principle of one-to-one marketing and Management by Objectives including appropriate statistics;
•Implementation of modern employee development and appraisal systems in several countries;
•As a project manager I was responsible for the work of some 110 specialists. In different line and interim functions I was responsible for groups between 30 and 800 FTE.

•HTS Industrial Sales (HTS Dordrecht including Marketing levels Nima A;B and C);
•MBA (Henley University UK/ very high grades) Dissertation subject: Strategic implications of the Euromarket on Multinational companies;
•Currently PhD. Supply Chain Management (started but currently “sleeping” due to too many activities)

Skills

•Corporate strategy, marketing & sales strategies and operations mgt (including SCM and (lean) operations);
•Change management (leading turnarounds)
•Significant experience regarding the fit between corporate strategy and IT architecture, international IT implementations;
•I was deeply involved in many innovation projects (from product definition till market launch) mostly as interim manager (task force leader) after things went wrong. Specialty is to speed up innovation projects reducing both time to market and time to money;
•I led many improvement programs i.e. one to one marketing, lean projects worldwide, scenario planning (including financial restructuring), product innovation programs, scm integration, appraisal and reward etc.
•I lived and worked in Germany 6 years and I studied in the UK so I speak the German and English language nearly perfect.
