Freelance Consultancy May 1999 – ongoing:

Linda undertakes freelance management consultancy as an associate to a number of consultancy companies.

Key engagements include:

ß Finance process improvement/shared service centre design and implementation Standard Chartered Bank – Africa Regional Office

Linda provided consultancy support to Standard Chartered Bank. Standard Chartered Bank wanted to define business processes to best practice standards for all processes within the finance function. They also wanted to determine how to set up shared service centres in Nairobi and Ghana that would support the finance functions of 12 African countries. Linda identified the project team and supported the finance team members to design new processes and determine the operational set up of the shared service centres. Linda also supported Standard Chartered in devising a communication and change management plan for the project.


Linda is currently studying part time for a BA in Fine Art at the Surrey Institute of Art and Design. Linda is in year three of five years.

Origin UK Limited January 1997 – May 1999:

Origin UK were a large IT Services Organisation (part of the Philips Group). Linda joined Origin Transformation Consulting with a view to build the business consulting practice (40 people in the UK). Linda provided insight into the disciplines required to capitalise on the market opportunities for Origin to be a cohesive service provider in the market place (from IT strategy through to delivery of systems and acceptability from users).

Key business development activities included:
ß Supporting and coaching consultants in the nature and role of consultancy
ß Supporting and shaping the strategic direction of the UK consultancy practice on behalf of the UK Director of Consulting
ß Business development with account managers and presentations to prospects


Key client engagements included:
ß Finance process redesign/systems selection and implementation for Burger King – Europe, Middle East and Africa
ß Management reporting process improvement and implementation for Origin International
ß Manufacturing process review and systems needs analysis for ICI Acrylics



KPMG Management Consulting September 1990– December 1996:
Linda began at KPMG working on defining requirements and selecting medium sized accounting systems for large blue chip clients. Linda then progressed to the selection and implementation of large financial accounting systems. Linda then became involved in transformation consultancy looking at re-engineering finance processes. Linda worked within a wide range of sectors including finance, media, public sector and manufacturing.

ß Fixed assets process design, requirements analysis, systems selection and implementation for Hill Samuel Investment Services Limited
ß General ledger implementation, systems administration and cut-over support for the privatisation of National Power
ß IT strategy and business case evaluation/preparation for London Underground
ß Systems Testing and accounting software design support for Ford of Europe
ß Process redesign and systems implementation for accounts payable and fixed assets for Lombard North Central
ß Process redesign, systems implementation and change management for accounts payable and accounts receivable for the Intervention Board
ß Re-engineering processes and systems to create a shared service centre for Sales Order Processing and Accounts Receivable. The project objective was to bring together the back office functions of 8 operating companies into one shared service centre for Pearson Group plc


KPMG Accountancy September 1986– August 1990:
Linda trained as a Chartered Accountant on a four-year training contract. She was involved in audit and accounts preparation for a diverse range of companies in terms of size and sector.

William Bayliss and Co September 1985– September 1986:
William Bayliss and Co were a small accountancy firm. Linda joined William Bayliss as a trainee accountant and completed her accountancy foundation course.

Rainbow Publicity Limited September 1984– August 1985:
Linda joined Rainbow Publicity as an accounts assistant, responsible for the computerised book-keeping system, the production of sales invoices and for completion of VAT returns
