Polymer Vision is a high tech venture and the pioneer of a unique flexible display technology. With an extensive IPR portfolio, developed by a world class team, the company set a trend to re-shape the mobile phone industry over the next 3-5 years. Through the company’s rollable display solutions, Polymer Vision's technology will enable mobile device manufacturers to design larger displays into small form factor mobile devices. After a trade sale in 2009, the company is today a wholly owned subsidiary of one of the top 3 Original Design manufacturers (ODM) in Taiwan.

• Spun company out of Philips to become ‘independent’ in 2006.
• Secured €21milion in Venture Capital investment to finance the spin out.
• R&D roadmap strengthened through €5million in subsidies.
• Completed M&A of UK facility for small scale production in 2007.
• Closed strategic partnerships for joint development with many companies worldwide.
• Realized the sale to a large Taiwanese Corporation in 2009.
• Completed M&A of newer and larger facilities for R&D and pilot production in 2010.

January 2002 - August 2004 General Manager,
Imaging Business, Philips, The Netherlands

The Imaging Business was established in 2002 with as goal to commercialize an innovative technology for miniature cameras. This technology (CMOS) offered lower power and lower cost camera solutions, making them specifically suitable for mobile phones. In 2003 the Imaging Business successfully designed the first camera into a mobile phone outside of Japan. This deal was completed with a Top 5 mobile industry player and was followed later with deals with two further Top 5 companies.

• Developed organization from R&D to a Business Unit.
• Secured €28million of internal strategic investment to commercialize the business.
• Supply chain and production and established in Asia (Taiwan, China, Malaysia).
• Increased sales from $4 million in 2002 to $40 million in 2004.
• Closed deals with customers from the Top 5 mobile phone industry players.

January 1996 - December 2001 Product and Technology Manager Philips Semiconductors, The Netherlands

A cutting edge technology facility, producing semiconductor products for a broad range of consumer products. This product range included TV’s, mobile phones and CD players.

• Managed the development and transfer of new technologies to Asia and USA.
• Chairman of the Business Development and Technology Strategy Team.
• Introduced World Class methodologies into Philips and Philips’s joint development partner, ST Microelectronics, France.
• Technical interface to a worldwide, multi-market customer base.
• Resulting sales from the new technologies was $1.2Billion over a 2.5 year period.

Yield Manager Intel Corporation, USA & Ireland

Intel Corporation is the world’s largest producer of semiconductor products. It is a company with a distinct culture which successfully balances the co-existence of technology leadership with a highly disciplined cost structure.

Even 15 years later, the experience gained at Intel continues to be valuable in areas such as cost structure; technology and product road mapping, transfer of technology from R&D to volume production, as well as production control and efficiency. Further, a developed appreciation for the importance of understanding people culture and business culture continue to benefit.


September 1986 - December 1989 Quality & Reliability Group Leader Philips, The Netherlands

This was a high tech facility set up to lead the semiconductor industry into the ‘deep sub micron’ era through production of the world’s first megabit (SRAM) memory chips.

The greatest value of this career period was the development of awareness for importance of Quality and Reliability, even in the early stages of development.
