Project with a sport and leisure facility to improve current computer and telephone systems to develop marketing opportunities.
Established UK interconnection strategy and new voice and IP agreements for a new national fibre and IP network operator. Managed interconnect process with new BT agreement. Responsible for the local loop unbundling process with BT. Involved with selection and evaluation of new interconnect billing system.

Reporting to the Executive Vice President. Created and implemented an innovative and highly successful global interconnection strategy in a start-up environment that created significant regulatory value and cost competitive advantage. Responsible for comprehensive and innovative set of global interconnection agreements with a completely new global satellite concept.

The global ground fibre network was successfully delivered within budget and on target ensuring all business; engineering and operational requirements were met. Created significant value for the group with innovative cost based agreements around the world with a diverse set of international companies.

Significant achievements and progress made in very short time-scales by use of creative skills and deep knowledge of the industry. Managed international bidding process with 50 interconnect and satellite operators and selected 12 carriers. Able to manage diverse investor expectations to achieve a coherent global approach while establishing excellent long-term relationships with all interconnect and business partners.

Managed a team of 8 based in the UK, Latin America, Africa and Asia.

Delivered high level presentations to regulatory bodies and international interconnection forums to achieve regulatory and business objectives.

CABLE & WIRELESS 1977 - 1995
MANAGER PRICING, NETWORK OPTIMISATION & ACCOUNTING RATES 1990 - 1995
Managed team of 6. Operated up to government level to devise and implement price ‘rebalancing’ proposals and define product and communication strategies for a large number of different countries. Gathered all necessary strategic business, marketing and costing information and produced financial implication report for each customer segment to justify changes. Measured the market elasticity of these changes.

Devised successful innovative international interconnection strategy and proportionate return policy. Led the negotiation for long term agreements for delivery of telephone traffic to the value of US$180M with the major US and UK international telecommunications carriers.

Managed and led a diverse group of 15 carriers in Europe and the Caribbean to successfully implement a competitive route and transit optimisation plan. Improved revenue by US$4M.

Bid Experience - Formulated key pricing and interconnect business plan for a major national and international telecommunication licence bid activity.

Identified a new international settlements audit in Trinidad and by renegotiating interconnect agreements with US and UK carriers achieved revenue savings of US$4M.

Wrote and delivered 3 business and pricing courses to 60 finance, operations and marketing staff in the Caribbean and Europe.


BUSINESS MANAGEMENT - START-UP CELLULAR COMPANIES 1988-89

Lead negotiator in setting up profitable Pan Caribbean cellular businesses in joint venture with American entrepreneurs covering 10 countries. Negotiated new cellular licence agreements and interconnect agreements with governments and French and Dutch cellular operators. Evaluated billing system and selected vendor to deliver system

PROJECT MANAGER CORPORATE MARKETING 1987-88

Specifically selected to lead a team of IT experts to deliver a management database on C&W’s world wide international customers. Planned, designed and created the information requirements for this system to enable use by Directors and senior management. Successfully achieved in short time-scale.
