Reporting to Director of Sales and Distribution

Orange s.a. in partnership with a local company CP Group a major Thai conglomerate is building to operate a 2.5 G 1800 GSM Network country wide in Thailand. The role was on a contract for initially 4 months but was extended to 1 year due to the successful management of the division and delivering on its objectives. CPOrange was established here from scratch and is a complete start up mobile operation. The main purpose of the role is to provide the mechanism for the timely delivery of terminal equipment and accessories to customers, which have been rigorously tested. Support such product during its working life and ensure that costs of operation are minimised.
The key areas of responsibility were, end to end management of the supply chain, from agreeing with the Product and Services Head the detailed range of handsets to meet the corporate marketing objectives, through supplier negotiations, and finally selection of a warehouse and logistics provider to also include Service and Repair facilities. At the same time, meeting all agreed customer service levels and efficiency.

Key Deliverables:
• Manage and develop the supply chain from detailed range establishment through sourcing and final delivery
• Detailed negotiation for pricing and supply with all handset vendors and SIM card vendors
• Establishment of long term mutually beneficial supplier relationships
• Operational Management of the Logistics, Service and After Sales Functions
• Strategic development of Service Logistics Function
• To maximise cost benefits to the business
• Work with Marketing to design all packaging and SIM card graphics.
• Management of a total budget of in excess of US$60Million
• Recruit, manage and train a team of professional supply chain personnel in line with the organisations needs

In addition, due to the complexity of the markets here in Thailand was also required to take on the task on Number Management and IMEI tracking within the billing system.

ADVENT DATA LTD

Advent Data is the fourth largest Distributor of Computer Consumables in the UK with a client base ranging from Wholesalers thru End Users to e-commerce. The role encompassed everything in the Procurement cycle, from supplier selection and price negotiation to hiring and managing both purchasing teams and warehouse operatives. Key achievements were, the selection and integration of a new IT system, and the relevant staff training. Project Management of major revamp of the companies warehousing from selection of racking to improving procedures and training staff to meet ISO9000 standards. Tasked with investigating loss of revenue as a result of lack of effective stock management systems. Implemented new systems in line with ISO9002 standards.

Corporate Express is a World-Wide supplier of Office Equipment the role was to manage a total spend of £20M and additionally encompassed product selection for the various Corporate Express sales Catalogues. Involvement in the implementation of a corporate purchasing strategy for Corporate Express on a global basis formed a vital part of the role as did the integration of new acquisitions into the company.

I initially joined Abraxas Computer Supplies as Purchasing Manager in October 1995, Abraxas was acquired by Corporate Express in September ’96, when the budget grew from £12M to £20M. During my time with Abraxas, I implemented new systems to improve stock management, reduced cost prices across the stock range by sourcing products world wide, with the result that operating margins were considerably improved.
