· A member of the consortium that bought into the business

· Concluded contracts with key hostel groups
· Sold interest to Aim-listed PubNet and currently remain a director

Managing Director Of SuperCard Marketing, a major loyalty card program for the South African Broadcasting Corporation:

· Negotiated program design and management contract with South African Broadcasting Corporation
· Negotiating deals with a range of leading retail partners for inclusion in the loyalty program
· Responsible for recruiting 1.5 million cardholders to the program
· Commissioned a weekly television program promoting the benefits of joining the program
· Led the negotiations and sale of the business to Aplitec, a smart card company listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange

Marketing Director of Power Learning, an innovative leadership training business aimed at introducing entrepreneurship into major corporations:

· Conceived of the business process and developed the initial training system and material
· Secured the first corporate clients for the company that now boasts a list of blue chip South African multi-nationals as its clients
· Remain a strategy advisor for the company

Marketing Director of CardLink International, a marketing service to the major credit card issuers linking the marketing of credit card campaigns to the travel reservation systems in Europe:

· Negotiated with all the major airline reservations companies to create credit card marketing opportunities on the reservation screens in travel agencies
· Secured the contract for Visa International Europe to use the system
· Successfully launched the service at global travel mart
· Managed initial marketing campaigns for Visa International
· Sold business rights to a Thompson online Publications


Managing Director of Travel-One Marketing, an online service linking the travel insurance market to the retail travel trade:

· Developed the first online link between the travel insurance market and the retail travel trade.
· Negotiated the contract for Europe Assistance to use the technology that resulted in a significant gain in their retail market share.
· Led the sale of the business to Europe Assistance.
Corporate Career Summary:

Nedcor Bank Group (1984 – 1994):

South Africa’s leading retail and corporate bank and known for its technology banking expertise and bias.

Held a variety of positions within the bank including Marketing Research Manager and Strategic Planning Manager for the Perm Division from 1984 to 1988. Appointed Assistant General Manager: Marketing for NedPerm Bank in 1989, Product Manager for the Credit Card Division in 1990 and finally Marketing and Sales Executive for all the bank’s card products in 1993.


Achievements:

· Key member of the strategy review process for the Perm Division of bank during deregulation of financial services market. Responsible for complete review of bank’s branch and network structure to compete effectively in the deregulated markets

· Led various card product launches, ranging from conventional Visa products to smart card pilots. Managed 45 people in sales, marketing and customer services

· Elected to the MasterCard Marketing committee for the Middle East and Africa region, the principle purpose of which was to assist member banks in launching MasterCard programs in new territories

· Awarded Nedcor’s Gold Award for senior managers on account of growing the Visa and MasterCard card base by 24% for two years running, after years of stagnation

· Renowned for developing people, an innovative approach to complex marketing problems and constantly seeking opportunities to grow the business.


Management Consultant (1981-1983):

Began career as a consultant with Perry and Associates, South Africa’s leading marketing and strategy consultants. A team member in assignments, which included strategy work and the development of marketing plans for Old Mutual, Ford, and Johnson & Johnson. Appointed an Associate Partner in his third year in the business.

Achievements:

Achievements in these first three years of my career were mainly of a personal nature and included

· Learning how to communicate at board level both verbally and in writing

· Developing the “big picture” while appreciating and understanding operational issues
