‘98-00 Implementation Consultant - Ross Systems (UK) Ltd.
Ross Systems Ltd is a supplier of a Business Management system. The system called Renaissance CS permits the management of sales, purchasing, stocks, production and finance. It has been integrated with various third party reporting, Management Information System, forecasting and planning systems.
A Consultant is responsible for the project management, training and implementation of the software into client sites and for the support of other consultants managing other implementations.
Since joining Ross Systems (UK) Ltd I have project managed a number of implementations and migrations in distribution, food processing and manufacturing companies. As a senior consultant, I have managed implementations into food sector companies, distribution and process manufacturers. In addition, to being involved in numerous other implementations, training, development, testing and support projects.
* Implementation of the Enterprise Resource Planning system into client sites on time and achieving the project targets.
* Train, manage and develop the project team so as to achieve the implementation
* Aid and support fellow consultants and other departments as necessary.
* Developed training plans, manuals and support materials.

‘95-98 Supply Chain Manager - Fosroc Ltd
Fosroc Ltd is a major supplier of materials to the construction industry, producing cement admixtures, industrial sealants, specialist grouts and mortars and concrete repair products.
The Supply Chain Manager is directly responsible for all aspects of production planning, purchasing, distribution and operations systems management and indirectly for the management of the whole supply chain.
* Developed operations performance measures accepted by the managers and work force. These have helped drive some major performance improvements.
* Assisted in the merger onto the site at Tamworth and the improvement of customer service from 75% to 95%.
* Recruited a new purchasing department and seamlessly transferred procurement from the closed Acton site to the Tamworth site. In the following year this team reduced purchase spend by 8.5%.
* Developed the production planning process and weekly planning meetings to provide the necessary control to the business. Through training and persuasion of the relevant staff the plan adherence has been driven up to the high 90’s.
* Implemented new warehouse control and picking procedures with the warehouse team, to improve picking and stock accuracy (59% to 96%). This involved a partial re-implementation of the MRPII system.
* Managed the move from in-house distribution to third party distribution, using specialist hauliers for the different product types.
* Developed Kanban replenishment of some intermediates and materials and integrated these within the MRP system.
* Core Team member in the selection and implementation of the new manufacturing control system. The selection paying particular emphasis on customer facing capabilities and integration to meet customer needs.

‘92-95 Materials Manager - Sellotape GB Ltd.
Sellotape is the brand leader of retail tape products in the UK, and a significant provider of technical tapes, foams and butyls into national and international markets.
The Materials Manager was responsible for all aspects of production planning, purchasing, despatch, warehousing and operations systems management.
* Implemented, an integrated manufacturing control system (BPCS).
* Integrated Production Planning and Buying to ensure material availability to meet the plan at lower material costs, reduced stock holding and eliminated material expediting.
* Reorganised the Retail unit warehouse to raise despatch performance to 99% with 12% less labour and reorganised the third party distribution network.
* Developed and implemented a timely and cost effective performance measurement system for the Operations Department.
* Reduced Sellotape stocks by 40% in real terms within eighteen months, through standard stock management techniques and the involvement of the whole supply chain in stock management.
* Introduced Portfolio Analysis to manage the supplier base, reducing the supplier base by 25% year on year and achieving negative real term material costs.
* Implemented a new forecasting system to monitor business plans and drive the Sales and Operations Planning process.
‘87-92 Production Planner - Sellotape/Kwikseal Products
Kwikseal Products is a producer of adhesive foam products. Planning responsibilities included the preparation of the production plans for the main process machines and the control of the stocks of finished goods and raw materials. In 1991 Kwikseal and Sellotape merged.
* Wrote a PC based Material Requirements Planning system feeding off the mainframe sales order system to manage production planning.
* Increased the ‘in stock service rate’ from 60% to 93%, while total stock value fell to two thirds of the original value.
* Led a team, which set up a networked stock control system. The system greatly improved stock record accuracy. Feeding into the planning system it allowed stocks to be further reduced.
* Managed the design and construction of a new warehouse and the transfer of stocks, following the merger with Sellotape.
‘86-87 Manufacturing Systems Engineering - Cranfield University
Studied for a M.Sc. in Manufacturing Systems Engineering. The course was part taught, part project based and encompassed production control systems, management practices, computer simulation and operations systems analysis.
* Designed and programming a PC based training package in Materials Requirements Planning for my thesis, since used by the University.
* Lead the sub-team which used computer simulation to prove the efficacy of the redesign of the material flows within the JCB manufacturing site.
* Presented the project finding to the JCB main board and to an invited audience: as part of a presentation team.
‘85-86 Assembly Manager - Preci-Ware
Responsible for running the Finishing Department, assembling and packing various injection moulded household products. Gained basic management and leadership skills.
‘83-85 Lecturer - Mid-Cornwall College
A lecturer at the Mid-Cornwall College of F.E. in Business Studies, computing and mathematics. Following from a Post-Graduate diploma in Education training and using my training skills to develop new courses in Business Studies and computing for further education
