Skills

Skills and Experience.

Academic skills:

I attended the University of Wolverhampton. Politics courses there were recently rated as excellent and attained a score of 23/24 in government quality ratings. I possess expert knowledge of the political systems and the modes of government in the United Kingdom and the other European Union member countries. Also, a large proportion of my time was spent in the study of the nearby Eastern European countries formerly covered by the Warsaw Pact. My analysis of these covered both the communist period and the more recent moves to a liberalised social and economic model.
As well as studying events closer to home, I developed an interest in the politics of the former Soviet Central Asian Republics, and the Middle East. with particular reference to the relationship between the Arab world and Israel.
Following my completion of the course I have become interested in the politics of other countries, particularly in Asia.
Academic success though is not measured simply by the accumulation of knowledge, it also an excellent opportunity to learn the skills required in today\'s busy work environment.

Amongst skills developed during my time at university are:

A full range of communication skills, both written and verbal, and the social skills to use these in a positive way to develop successful business and personal relationships.
The ability to use a wide range of electronic and computer based systems. These include word processing, e-mail, database systems, and presentation software.
Development of research, and report presentation skills
The confidence to handle all situations, gained from experiencing the rich diversity of university life.
The ability to adapt to change in our modern fast moving world by quickly learning new techniques & absorbing and evaluating their usefulness and value.

Work based skills:

Since leaving university I have developed skills in a variety of new areas. Highlights of my career since graduation are listed on the first page. In the workplace I have further developed my communication skills and my team-working and networking abilities. I have developed my abilities in research and information provision for both colleagues and customers. I have also learnt valuable people-handling and sales techniques.
On a more technical level I have enriched my knowledge of multimedia products and services, as well as the more traditional office technologies, such as word-processing, email and telephone systems. Whilst I was already proficient in their use I now successfully apply these to business areas.
In non-customer facing roles I have been acting in a support capacity to my managers, compiling, interpreting and writing reports, as well as interpreting statistics. I have also been helping with the general running of the office. And I have recently provided extensive training support to newer colleagues.

I have also gained experience of:

Back Office practices in two major companies
Organising co-operation between other companies and internal departments to arrange the best possible outcomes for our customers.
Liaising with representatives of government regulatory agencies to ensure that our work does not contravene government guidelines on telecoms service standards or data confidentiality.
Dealing with customers from a wide range of diverse backgrounds, both internationally and those based within the UK
