2000 - 2001 Symbian, London Senior Project Manager

Leading a team developing a multi-million pound project producing Web-based facilities on mobile devices for use in banking and other applications for client with global presence as mobile phone manufacturer. Responsible for direct liaison with senior representatives of client at all stages of project.

1981 - 2000 KPMG, London Principal Consultant / Senior Manager

Principal author of company's methodology, used around the world in thousands of projects, for the implementation of large computer systems. Helped keep ahead of current technology, adding major areas in web technology. Also led team prototyping the company's project management methodology and wrote specialist tools for implementing major software packages (SAP, Baan, Oracle etc).

Frequently ran residential training courses in both Package Implementation and Management of Change at training centres in the UK, US, Russia, Brussels, Paris and Bahrain. Represented the UK consulting industry on two UK government sponsored trade missions (the Middle East and India). Invited to speak at international conferences in the UK, US, Germany, Italy, Cyprus, Venezuela, Bahrain, Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

Managed teams and client relations in major projects and programmes in some 35 countries:
· Implementing systems in financial and procurement areas for the UK Central Government and in the European Commission
· Providing advice and assistance to the UNHCR at the commissioner level in relation to financial and procurement processes
· Implementing systems for every oil company in the Arabian Gulf. These included financial, inward supply chain (procurement and materials), maintenance, process monitoring, trading, HR and payroll
· Implementing packages in banks, credit card companies, travel firms and food importers
· Designed and prototype advanced systems for integrating seismic and well modelling data for the world's largest oil producer
· Implemented an IT strategy for a major international conglomerate in the food, beverages and hotel business
· Reviewed inward supply chain business processes for a large oil company and designed new processes to take advantage of Internet-based approaches
· Produced document management studies for a number of companies
· Advised and assisted two Middle Eastern governments in setting up centralised IT and policy departments
· Carried out an IT strategy review for a national telecommunications company in the Middle East
· Carried out a total systems review for one of Europe's largest refinery groups

CAREER HISTORY CONTD:

1979 - 1981 Dunlop Group, Birmingham Group Technical Advisor

Invited to join as Group Technical Advisor on Computers. Responsible for approving the acquisition of any computer equipment in the Group, anywhere in the world. Also responsible for ensuring the Group had, and applied, a strategic policy on the use of computers.

1976 - 1979 Leasco Software, London Senior Principal

Joined as a consultant and subsequently seconded into the British Civil Service. In this role, carried out many assignments for the Ministry of Defence. Also carried out a study into the IT needs of the Palace of Westminster (House of Commons and House of Lords), which culminated in giving evidence to joint committee of both Houses. Made a major contribution to a green paper on the future of UK government computing. Acted as technical advisor to Lindop Committee,(producing the first Data Protection Act). Was member of Home Office committee looking at future use of microcomputers in government. Other projects included carrying out an IT strategy for CIE (Irish Railways) defining their policy on computer systems in all areas for 10 years.

Prior to 1976 Joined Rolls Royce in Derby working on engine build scheduling systems in both the Are and Oil engine divisions. Developed and ran courses in Systems Analysis and Computer Appreciation. On leaving Rolls Royce, joined Cadbury Schweppes and BOC in systems analysis and IT management roles.
