In addition search the firm’s service offering encompasses an array of leadership development solutions, compensation advisory and the subsidiary Futurestep for mid-level management recruitment and recruitment project outsourcing. The EMEA region represents about 30% of the total revenue.

• As one of six consultants in the Brussels office, I managed pan-European and local executive searches in the EMEA region for clients in our Global Industrial (GIM) and Technology Markets (GTM). In GIM I was Regional Sector Leader for the Packaging, Paper & Forest sector and I was member of the sector Industrial Manufacturing & Services. In GTM I focused on Software, Emerging Technologies & ICT/Professional Services. I was a functional member of our Corporate Affairs Centre of Expertise, with a focus on Government Relations & Public Affairs and of our Sustainability practice, with a special task to manage NGO liaisons. Successfully placed a number of candidates of different nationalities in executive positions with clients across Europe or overseas, in my own right or as member of international client service teams. • Recruited by the CEO & Chairman to co-manage the firm’s start-up operations the EMEA region with responsibility for P&L, personnel and organic expansion of the operation. The Executive Search division (EUR 65 million/300 employees) conducted retained executive search and management assessment through some 30 offices worldwide.

• Managed executive search projects with pan-European or local scope, for international renowned clients in the sectors Global Technology & e-Business, Industry and Professional Services. Participated in three very large international management assessment projects, in the context of pre-merger due diligence, with the ExCo’s and BoD’s of the NewCo’s as clients. Reported in a matrix to the European Managing Director (UK) and to the global Practice Leader Technology & e-Business (USA). Promoted twice, from Director to Senior Director and then to Vice President.

Organization for export development and internationalization of Swedish enterprises (USD 55 million/380 employees) managed by its principals the Swedish State through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade and the Swedish business community through a trust. The Brussels Office is the official commercial representation of Sweden to Belgium, Luxembourg and the Commission of the European Union.

• Recruited to the diplomat posting and managed operations, P&L, a staff of eight persons and lead business development, sales, marketing, project and relationship management for B2B clients, as well as management, recruitment, training and financial control. Represented Sweden to the host governments, authorities, industry federations, business clubs and interest groups and was official government representative in European Commission committees, as well as Vice President of the Belgian-Swedish Association. Launched a Sweden/EU/Baltic States program for increased cooperation between SME’s and trade organizations. Reported to the Executive Vice President & Regional Manager EMEA in Sweden and formally had a dotted line to the Swedish Ambassadors to Belgium, Luxembourg and to the European Commission.

• Recruited to be responsible for the office’s consulting operations and as such managing prospecting, sales, management, reporting and follow-up of assignments/projects from Swedish client companies. Provided advisory services to the business communities in Sweden, Belgium and Luxembourg. Main contributor to that the office’s net revenue and profit largely exceeded budget in the first full operational year 1993. Reported to the Commercial Counsellor in Belgium.

Facit Coordination Centre NV / Zaventem, Belgium

Multinational Swedish company (USD 250 million/1,800 employees) with the product lines video terminals, computer printers, NC machines, typewriters, calculators and office furniture. Facit was divested from the public Ericsson group in 1988.

• Responsible for the P&L with five Country Managers as direct reports and in parallel I was the Managing Director of the Facit Coordination Centre in Belgium. Implemented a regional sales and management structure in Europe, implying less personnel, lower costs, higher profitability and better efficiency. Reported to the Group CEO in Sweden, and I was a member of the Facit Executive Committee and of the Board of Directors in seven European sales companies.

• About 10 years experience from bi-lateral commercial affairs and more than 6 years from working with EU project & trade finance and cooperation as governmental intermediary between Swedish corporations, consultancies, national organizations, the EU institutions, development banks as well as with various federations, organizations and authorities.
• Expertise from funding of R&D projects, other EU initiated development/cooperation projects as well as the regional EU programs for the CEE/CIS countries, the Mediterranean region, the Middle East, Latin America and Asia, as well as from SME cooperation and Sweden/EU/Baltic States initiatives.
• Manage business cooperation and foreign direct investment subsidies in Belgium for Swedish companies working with the Belgian inward investment authorities as well as the other way around working with the Swedish Investment Agency and foreign commercial missions in Belgium, like the US embassy.

• More than 10 years experience from managing product development, indirect and direct B2B sales in Europe and North America of industrial products and services as well as hands-on general and change management regarding turn-around of loss-making manufacturing, sales & service operations in Europe.
• Worked with the Executive Board, the Board of Directors and external advisors to establish a new corporate structure with a holding company and a distribution centre in the Netherlands, a coordination centre in Belgium and moved from a country management to a regional hub structure in Europe.
