VAVS consolidated the total lighting industry of the Former Soviet Union, with 41 factories, USD 600m pa and 40.000 employees.

Achievements

Although hired as “CEO” my role worked out to be the personal consultant of the President and Owner of the company. I presented the business plan for the restructuring and modernization of the whole company, the improvement plans for a better operational management of the factories, and the business development plan for the whole company.
I stopped the cooperation because there was no money left for the implementation of the plans, although that was a prerequisite for the acceptance of the job.


PHILIPS ELECTRONICS 1990 to 2003

Project Manager Russia – Philips Lighting, Eindhoven, The Netherlands

1. Project Manager of 3 Lighting factories in Mordovia, Russia of which I was planned to become the General Manager. Due to the economic crisis Russia in August 1998 the project was stopped. March 1998 – December 1998
2. Project Manager to investigate the potential of the Former Soviet Union for Philips Electronics in the field of Research & Development, Production and Purchasing. January 1999 – July 2000.

Achievements

Ad 1. All preparations for the start of renovation of the buildings done, local supply base identified, sales plan approved.
Ad 2. In total 73 companies and institutions were visited, resulting in cooperation opportunities in the field of R&D and Engineering. Also the potential of the supply base, that fits into the company’s quality policy, gave significant cost reduction opportunities. This investigation resulted in the start-up of the Center for Industrial Support in the Former Soviet Union, which became my next job.

Factory Manager Magnetic Ballasts– Philips Lighting Electronics, Oss, The Netherlands December 1995 – March 1998

This factory was the supplier for Philips Electronics in Europe and Asia of magnetic ballasts for lamps

Achievements

1. Improved the capacity with about 20%
2. Reduced production costs with 15%
3. Started a new magnetic ballast factory in Ketzryn, Poland

Operation Manager Novatronics – Philips Consumer Electronics, Eindhoven, The Netherlands June 1992 – December 1995

This factory turned from a small series factory of consumer electronic products into a pilot factory of seven business units

Achievements

Being responsible for Production, Logistics and Quality, I transformed the company from a production factory of small series products into a pilot factory for seven businesses. This means from a more or less steady production into a production that was continuously ramping-up products, and testing new production processes.
Materials Manager Deckfactory Videowerk Wien – Philips Consumer Electronics, Vienna, Austria. February 1990 – June 1992

Videowerk was the sole factory of VCR’s of Philips.

Achievements

1. Start purchasing the parts of a new deck (Turbodrive) with a new purchasing philosophy of early supplier involvement.
2. Prepared the implementation of a new ERP system,
3. Prepared the logistics of the factory for doubling the output.
