Work Experience

1985 Software Consultant, Project Manager at RAET.
1995 General Manager of a 4 GL Business Unit at RAET (now Getronics).
1996 Development Manager at Financial Information & Consulting Services (FICS).
1998 Managing Director United Kingdom in London/Manchester at Financial Information & Consulting Services (FICS).
1999 Merger between FICS and Security First resulting at S1 Corporation. (S1)
1999 Vice President Customer Engagements EMEA at S1 Corporation. (S1)

I studied Business Administration at Nijenrode University in Breukelen (Netherlands). After my graduation in 1985 I started my career working for RAET, in the position of software consultant. From 1989 I occupied several positions, ranging from Project Manager to General Manager (managing 80 persons and 10 M US$ of revenue). RAET operates in the field of information technology by providing high-quality expertise and supplying products and services to banks, insurance companies, government and the corporate sector. From 1990 to 1996, I combined my career at RAET with a position as a part-time lecturer in computer sciences at a Rotterdam School for Higher Business Education. I published several articles and was a speaker at seminars on the subject of relational databases and 4GL development. At the end of 1996 I occupied a position as Manager for Development & Support for FICS Netherlands and became responsible for management of the Dutch development and support team of FICS. The main goal was to raise the quality of this team to a higher level and to grow from 30 to 80 persons over a two-year period, in which I succeeded. FICS Netherlands supplies electronic banking software to major financial institutions in the Dutch, Scandinavian and East European markets. FICS Group is an international software development and consulting company specialised in the development and implementation of financial and business management systems (electronic banking solutions, reporting and MIS tools). At the end of 1998 I became responsible for FICS UK, South Africa and the Middle East (EMEA), as a Managing Director in London. I sold and delivered £10 million of revenue in 1999 with a team of 110 persons working from London and Manchester. At the end of 1999 (after the merger between FICS and S1) I became responsible for Customer Engagement in Europe, as Vice President of Customer Engagements (CE). I directed the efforts of all consulting services and technical services in order to achieve the corporate goals. Most of these projects where on a fixed-price/date basis. This included extensive relationships, both external and internal. I delivered 25 million US$ of revenue in 2000, with a team of 240 persons working from Brussels, Rotterdam, Manchester, Paris, Madrid and Farnborough (UK). I had primary accountability for developing objectives, policies and programmes for all activities related to the Client Engagements Division of S1 Europe and execution. One task was to convert a nationally based business model into a Pan European CE organisation, which means relocation of activities and making sure that people were working together in a multi cultural environment.During 2000 the CE organisation delivered projects, cleaned up old work (FICS), started to work on new products, delivered those to customers like ZFS and ABN AMRO and delivered substantial revenue in the face of tremendous change. Early in 2001 I also designed and implemented a programme in order to better serve S1’s existing customers and increase operating efficiencies. As a result S1 has been undergoing relocation and consolidation of customer engagement resources between the Brussels, Rotterdam, Manchester and Paris offices.
