These assignments have centered around the design of project management teams and protocols then the delivery of projects by leading the teams often from feasibility through to operation or occupation.

Jul’02 to Date Interim Regional Director, Shanks Waste Solutions plc
 Full operational responsibility for £60 million division of £550 million plc working within the solid waste sector of UK and Europe. P&L responsibility, HR responsibility.
 Advice to Board with respect to the recruitment of permanent regional director
 Review of current business process and advice to Board with respect to realignment of business focus in the light of latest legislation
 Establishment of reorganised regional team including recruitment and restructuring
 Re-evaluation of all individual and local goals and objectives to best match focus of business.
Nov ’00 to Jun’02 Date Interim Project Director, Cambridge Display Technology
 Development of project management protocols to suit research-to-technology projects. Establish a group project directorate. Write company operating procedures.
 Project management and advice on project structure, procurement, leadership and risk analysis for the process definition and construction works associated with the design, procurement and construction of a manufacturing facility for the production of displays based on organic light emitting polymers (OLEPs)
Planning and execution of hook-up for complex fab equipment and tooling
Selection of and negotiation with contractors
Provision of advice on control of offshore equipment procurement, general procurement strategy and risk mitigation

Project management and advice on project structure and risk analysis for the civil engineering and construction works associated with the deployment of communications networks throughout Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA)
Assembly and management of resource pool across EMEA for the deployment of G3/UMTS from RF design through site acquisition and permitting to construction and equipment installation
Selection and negotiation of partnership agreements with pan-European contractors for the support of a $7 billion business

Feb ’00 to Apr ‘00 Project Consultant, PowerGen CHP Limited
Project management and advice on project structure and risk analysis for the construction of a new generation combined cycle combined heat and power plant for Michelin Tyres.
Liaison with relevant authorities with respect to Section 36 Consent matters and environmental issues.
Design co-ordination for the turnkey implementation phase.
Jun ’99 to Jan ’00 Project Consultant Geneva, TXU Europe (was Eastern Group PLC)
Project management of the provision of new head office facilities in Geneva for TXU Europe Power and Energy Trading including design, construction management and financial issues.
The £10 million project included responsibility for all soft and hard issues including relocations, building and space design, IT responsibility and the site management of the project. The scheme was complicated by the gradual occupation of the building by the client culminating in the operation of a full trading floor in the middle of a construction site.
Advice to TXU with respect to the organisation of the business to manage the provision of facilities throughout Europe.
Jan ’99 to Aug ’99 Project Consultant, Pratt & Whitney Cenco for GE Aircraft Engines
Provision of site management resource for the upgrade acoustic fit-out of a jet engine Test Bed for General Electric.
Responsibilities included client/contractor liaison, project management, financial control, design input, detailed planning and health and safety documentation.

Advice on the £2 million conversion of a church to a theatre for a lottery-funded venture

Project management of a series of building projects including the acquisition and disposal of properties and the development of existing and new sites in accordance with group building strategy.

Advice to materials handling company with respect to project management systems and the resolution of contractual problems on a number of projects.
Report to the Managing Director on the structure of the project management function to best meet the needs of a low value high project turnover environment including cost control.

Jan ‘98 to Mar ’98 Management Consultant to United Utilities.
Review of bidding processes for the Connections business forming part of Norweb within United Utilities. Principal recommendations now being implemented with respect to high level group structure and project management methodology. Project management environment used as platform for process-centered improvement.
Responsible for collection of data, preparation of process maps and presentation of pre implementation report to the business including all aspects of value engineering and process valuation.
Responsible for training process improvement teams.
Acted as facilitator for process teams to assist in free-thinking.

Auditing all aspects of the prestressing operations including submissions to HMNII.
