Revamped warehouse and distribution function in rapidly changing business environment improving efficiency, productivity and performance by reorganising workforce, instilling greater discipline, introducing new processes and implementing new distribution strategy.

Reorganised and improved Customer Services function by re-motivating staff, improving training, restructuring operation and aligning with Sales function. Recruited new experienced permanent Manager.

 American Standard Plumbing (UK) Ltd £275m Bathroom products supplier
Redesigned Returns procedure and implemented pilot. Conducted process analysis to identify improvements in warehouse layout to give improved stock control and order picking.


1998-2000 Operations Manager, GE Capital IT Solutions

Responsible for the Warehousing, Distribution, Configuration Centre and Facilities in £230m UK Division of Value Added Reseller (VAR) of IT products and services to business.

 Implemented SAP R/3 in all areas of responsibility enhancing Customer Service and integrating systems companywide.
 Introduced new Carriers, improved charging mechanisms and higher freight recovery to reduce freight bill by more than 25%
 Stabilised process in Configuration Centre and implemented production planning and control system leading to improvement in productivity (+10%), utilisation (+20%) and quality (50% reduction in rework rate)

1986-1997 Hilti AG and Hilti (Gt. Britain) Limited

Hilti AG, based in Liechtenstein and world leader in the manufacture and sales of fixings and fastenings to the construction industry with sales of £1bn. Hilti GB has t/o of £50m, 400 staff, 8,000 products and 20,000 customers.

1995-1997 Director of European Logistics Centre

Reporting to the Corporate Head of Logistics was appointed to develop and implement a pan-European logistics strategy.
• Obtained corporate approval for the strategy which included an integrated,
supranational supply chain system. This involved fewer, more automated warehouses, integrated systems and improved customer service.
• Set up the first Logistics Centre of Excellence to serve the UK, Eire and Scandinavian markets as a pilot project.
• Introduced new computerised systems including Oracle and Manugistics.
• Reduced inventory by 30% (£2m) while improving customer service by 5%.


1990 - 1995 Director of Logistics & Customer Services
Reporting to the UK MD, was responsible, in addition to logistics and customer service, for managing 35 trade centres and a workshop repair service. Directly responsible for 150 staff with revenue budget of £6.6m and capital spend of £1.6m.
• Achieved a 100% same day customer service.
• Established a centralised Customer Services Department and Call Centre with 45 staff, using best systems (ASPECT).
• Initiated and managed the planning, design and construction of a new high-bay £4.5m warehouse.

1986 - 1990 Director of Management Services
Responsible for all materials management functions further extended to include all property, personnel and training
• Introduced a mainframe based forecasting and inventory system (BPCS on AS400), reducing inventory by 40%.
• Developed a PC based network, linking 35 Trade Centres, improving order processing, inventory control and customer information.
• Set up a professional buildings and service management function, which reduced costs and improved the company image.
